  1. Thank you for using ScreamSaver. We are sure that you 
  2. will find it helpful.

  4. ScreamSaver is a pro-active tool for preventing computer
  5. related injuries such as over-use injuries of fingers
  6. and wrists, back and neck pain and eye-strain.
  7.  
  8. You are actively reminded to take regular breaks and to
  9. perform stretching exercises. You can control how intrusive
  10. it is and often you are reminded to take a break. A
  11. comprehensive safety training package is included.
  12.  
  13. You may only use ScreamSaver for a maximum of 30 days
  14. after which you will need to buy a licence to continue
  15. using it and obtain a password from us within this time
  16. which will allow it to keep running.

  33. demonstration of ScreamSaver, please un-install it 
  34. before installing this version.  Please read the 
  35. current help file or see the Uninstall section of 
  36. this file for details.)

  38. 1.    Print out this page for easier reference 
  39. before installing ScreamSaver.  These instructions 
  40. may seem long but they are very simple to perform and 
  41. are explained in great detail and clarity for your 
  42. benefit and ease of use.  You will find that they are 
  43. easy and quick to follow.
  44.  
  45. 2.    Install ScreamSaver:
  46.  
  47. In Windows 3:
  48. In File Manager, find the directory where the ScreamSaver
  49. files were extracted to and run "setup.exe" by double-
  50. clicking it with your mouse.
  51.  
  52. In Windows 95:
  53. In Windows Explorer, find the directory where the ScreamSaver
  54. files were extracted to and run "setup.exe" by double-
  55. clicking it with your mouse.
  56.

  58. Follow the instructions which appear on your screen.
  59. (see the troubleshooting section later in this
  60. help file if you are unsure how to do this).
  61. Please use the default settings unless 
  62. you have a particular reason not to.  Please write down 
  63. the name of the directory where you have installed 
  64. ScreamSaver if you choose another directory.
  65.  
  66. Starting ScreamSaver when opening Windows (optional):
  67. During the installation process you are 
  68. asked if you want ScreamSaver to automatically start up 
  69. when you open Windows. Please select Yes or No.
  70. P.S. You can do this later from within the program.

  73. 3.    Close down Windows, turn your computer off and 
  74. then restart it again.
  75.  
  76. 4.    Run ScreamSaver:
  77. Run ScreamSaver in the same way that you would run 
  78. any other program:
  79.  
  80. In Windows 3: Find the ScreamSaver group and run the
  81. ScreamSaver icon.
  82. In Windows 95: Press the START button, select PROGRAMS,
  83. select the 'ScreamSaver' group and select the 
  84. ScreamSaver icon.
  85.  
  86. The ScreamSaver screen will then appear.  
  87. It will not do anything until the specified time is 
  88. up when it will reappear to prompt you to take a break.
  89. If you want you can change the settings by using the 
  90. settings button.  Read the help file for more 
  91. information by pressing the "F1" button at any time.

  93. This version will run for 30 days.

  95. 5.  Install the ScreamSaver screen saver which is
  96. installed at the same time as ScreamSaver. This will
  97. allow you to make best use of ScreamSaver. Please read
  98. the help file for installation details.

  118. B.    Troubleshooting the installation of ScreamSaver
  119.  
  120. If you experience an error with installing ScreamSaver,
  121. please ensure that you have closed down all other 
  122. programs while you are installing it. Some programs 
  123. such as virus checkers and Microsoft Office can cause
  124. installation problems.
  125.  
  126. To see what programs you have got running and to be 
  127. able to close them down you should:
  128.  
  129. In Windows 3.x:    Press the CONTROL and ESCAPE keys at 
  130.         the same time
  131. In Windows 95:  Press the CONTROL and the ALT and the 
  132.         DELETE keys at the same time ONCE only.
  133.         You will then see a list of programs 
  134.         which are open.  
  135.  
  136. Select the ones you want to close down and press the 
  137. END TASK button.  
  138.  
  139. (Please note that you should not close down "Program 
  140. Manager" or "Explorer".)
  141.  
  142. (N.B. If you are concerned about closing down a virus 
  143. checker then first scan these disks before doing so.)
  144.  
  145. If you are told that there has been a conflict in 
  146. running the installation package but you have checked 
  147. that no other files are open, please exit and restart 
  148. Windows and try again after closing down the extra 
  149. programs again.  Unfortunately Windows has some 
  150. problems with it and very occasionally this has had 
  151. to be done to install properly.

  161. C.    How to un-install ScreamSaver
  162.  
  163. If you need to un-install ScreamSaver (eg at the end 
  164. of your evaluation period) then this is how you do it:

  166. In Windows 3.x:
  167.  
  168. Delete the ScreamSaver program group and icons by 
  169. selecting them and pressing the delete button.
  170.  
  171. If you have setup ScreamSaver to run automatically 
  172. when you enter Windows, then you must delete the icon
  173. in your StartUp group in Program Manager
  174.  
  175. Find and delete the directory where the ScreamSaver 
  176. files were installed.

  184. In the Control Panel section you will have a section 
  185. for adding and removing applications.  Use this section
  186. to remove ScreamSaver.
